I had a particularly busy weekend with the nice four days off work.
Friday we had planned to go to Oriental Bay for a walk but the weather didn’t look like it was about to agree with us so we had to settle for brunch at Kelburn shops. I was really looking forward to their waffle menu but it was only on weekends and holidays didn’t count, so I had to settle on pancakes.
On Saturday I managed to get a little bit of town in. I walked down to the local game shop where they had Sid Meier’s Pirates for only fifty New Zealand dollars so I snatched it up. Afterwards I went for a nice coffee with a friend then heading to a pub on Cuba Street called JJ Murphey’s. It isn’t the best of places but they do have free pool and I ended up with just one win and three loses, though I should have known better than to play pool against an Englishman. Georgia joined us after she finished work for one more pint before heading back home to get ready for a party my friend was throwing that night. We wandered up the street to where it was (my old flat) and sat down for a few drinks, I even managed to get Maurice my flatmate to laugh at the wrong time and spill beer all over his pants.
Sunday morning I went with Georgia to a family friend’s house where they were having a morning garden party at their house for Easter, nothing overly exciting just coffee and hot cross buns. There was one gentleman there who kept going on and on about his kids how they were finishing their honours degrees and getting free trips for some conference somewhere, I didn’t spend long talking to him. The rest of Sunday was saved for being pretty relaxing, just hanging out enjoying the sun while it was out, and watching a movie while eating pizza.
Monday was dreadful, because work loomed over me on the next day. I spent it reliving my childhood playing Pirates, I still don’t know if it is better than the original Commodore 64 version we used to play. The rest of the day was filled with chores with a brief intermission for scones ala George for afternoon tea.
Now it is Tuesday and I’m ready to go home.
