Friday was an interesting day, after work I went to meet up with my flat mate Maurice and his friend Jecarlos (sp?) the Brazilian. We went to this new fancy bar where I managed to tell of this extremely attractive woman, who turned out to be the doorwoman. I don’t think I will be back there any time soon, after that though we went to the usual JJ Murpheys for some beer and free pool. I did spectacularly bad losing four of the five games before heading back home and passing out exhausted (from work not beer).
On Saturday there was a small flat party for a bit that I was at before going to town again for Vivian’s birthday. Surprisingly enough the party was a pool competition, but after my crushing defeats from the day previous we didn’t participate. The party wasn’t overly exciting, a few people interested in talking to ‘The Canadian’ but the place had a really good sports bar set up, if the Stanley Cup final is played here I know where I am going.
On Sunday I just ended up relaxing, the Super 14 final was on with an all South African line-up. The game proved to be very exciting with the Bulls scoring a kick on a penalty to go down by 1 with about twenty minutes left. Then with just seven minutes left the Sharks scored a try but missed the conversion to go up by 6. After the horn sounded (rugby plays on like soccer except till a neutral stoppage in play) the Bulls were on the offensive looking for that last tri and after two minutes the Shark’s defence broke down and the Sharks scored a tri right between the uprights setting up an easy conversion and the game winner. It was an exciting finish to an exciting game, though I felt bad for the Sharks fans.
Also on Sunday (for us) the Senators won game 5 and are going to the finals. My boss who is also a Canadian thought I was a bit nuts for picking a Senators Ducks final but with Ottawa going through and the Ducks up 3-2 it looks like I might have been right on. I should take up gambling.
