One of the arrested terrorist suspects is a high up Maori party official. The changes eventually got thrown out and a reduced illegal firearm charge applied. In response the New Zealand government changed the Terrorism Amendment Act, and massive protest started up near Auckland and travelled down to Wellington. The protest arrived today with more than 500 people descending on parliament and then walking through the business district disrupting traffic and pedestrians alike. However they are too late to change parliament’s decision, the amendment passed last night with an overwhelming majority.
