It turns out that near the end of 2007 iTunes Canada started to sell TV shows and Movies from Canada. Under their TV category they have a number of NHL games. In order to access the iTunes of a specific country all you need is a credit card for that country. I just had to revert my account back to the old credit card and I had full access to iTunes Canada.
Their NHL selection wasn’t nearly a full collection of games, actually it was only a selection of the best games of last year and all the Stanley Cup finals. I’m hoping that it was because it was a pilot trial that started halfway through the season. If it will continue to be a limited release then I’m faced with a dilemma; Don’t listen to the game and hope it makes it to iTunes a few days later or listen to the game and watch games that I already know the result to. I’ll have to see how the season goes but iTunes list of “Best Games” for the 07-08 season didn’t include a single Canucks game.
One of the nice added bonuses of this new discovery is that movies that are released to DVD in Canada go to iTunes at the same time. That makes them available to download up to two months before their release in New Zealand.
