I bought a Wii off a friend of a friend who was leaving for Australia. He was offering it at an incredibly cheap rate but I told him that was too little and gave him 33% more than what he asked. I immediately set about reliving some of the childhood classics like Mario and Zelda.
I picked up Super Paper Mario first. It has much of the same feel on levels as Super Mario World does but the most interesting game play mechanic is the ability to go 3D for short periods of time. You have to use this 3D ability to solve problems, find treasure and avoid enemies. Along the way you pick up Pixls, little companions that give you some type of ability to aid in your quest. The story line is a bit weak but it’s aimed at 4 year olds so you can’t expect too much. Super Paper Mario is an entertaining game but didn’t supply enough of a challenge, I didn’t die once.
Today I bought The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I had my eye on this game before I even got the Wii. I loved The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past but after Super Nintendo I went down the Playstation and XBox routs and Zelda is a Nintendo exclusive. I missed out on some good ones like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time but now that I’m in Nintendo’s pocket again I can’t wait to fire this one up.
