We arrived in Melbourne today. Our friend Sharon picked us and took us into town for dinner and drinks. We ate in the heart of the arts part of the city near the river. I had wonderful calamari while trying an espresso martini.
After dinner we crossed the bridge to Federation Square for some drinks. Federation square is a happening place, there always seems to be something going on.
After that we walked beside the river to Melbourne’s flame pillars. On the hour they let of a series of giant fireballs of different sizes for about five minutes all along that section of the river. I was several meters away but still felt uncomfortably hot. It was getting late by that point so we caught a tram back to Sharon’s house.
